Newport Ski Club members are required to fulfill an annual work obligation by participating in a club committee, serving in a leadership role, working an organized ski weekend, or participating in a work weekend. Volunteering is also a great way to contribute to the club, meet fellow members, and help keep our lodge and activities running smoothly. You may complete your obligation in the following ways
- Serve as an elected officer. Elections for the Board of Directors are held at the club’s May meeting and serve for one year.
- Attend a work weekend at the Lodge. Work weekend opportunities are held at least twice a year and are announced at meetings. Contact lodge-maintenance@newporskiclub.org for information on upcoming work weekends.
- Serve as a lodge manager (LM) or assistant lodge manager (ALM) during a winter organized ski weekend. Lodge Managers and Assistant Lodge Managers help keep the lodge running smoothly during their assigned weekends. Responsibilities include welcoming members and guests, answering questions, and helping everyone follow lodge rules and procedures. It’s a straightforward way to contribute to the club while enjoying a weekend at the lodge. Visit the lodge schedule to sign up for a weekend.
- Serve on a club committee. See the Executive Board page for a description of the committees.
The committees listed below are currently seeking volunteers. Each opportunity includes a description of the duties and expected time commitment to help you find a role that fits your interests and availability.
- The Lodge Maintenance committee is looking for an administrative volunteer to handle:
- Digitization: Convert paper records into electronic files.
- Document organization: Organize maintenance records for accessibility.
- Document distribution: Make relevant documents available to committee members and other appropriate personnel.
2. The Technology Committee is looking for technology-minded people to fill various roles.
